Department of Transportation is the largest and most influential agency in the Commonwealth. Within the Office of General Counsel, handled thousands of matters related to Eminent Domain Law and land use, zoning and landlord/tenant issues, traffic safety as well as collections matters. Managed the comprehensive litigation of matters in these areas including frequent court appearances for bench and jury trials, arbitrations, depositions, drafting briefs and negotiating settlements. Accomplishments include:

• Successfully managed an annual caseload of over 800 traffic safety and motor vehicle cases, at least 20 condemnation matters and 20-30 collection matters.
• Planned strategies, both individually and collaboratively, for at least 20 condemnation cases per year, obtaining a favorable outcome for the client in 70% of the cases at trial.
• Successfully negotiated the settlement of hundreds of property damage claims saving the State and its citizens millions of dollars in taxpayer revenue.
• Represented the Commonwealth in the media regarding sensitive legal issues impacting the entire citizenry of Pennsylvania.
Developed and implemented a training program involving the coaching and mentoring of summer interns, enabling them to prepare and try cases in open court with results favorable to the client.
• Established excellent, enduring relationships and rapport with judges in the various counties of the Commonwealth and with members of the legal, business and political communities.
• Received certificate of recognition for 10 years outstanding service to the Commonwealth.
