And so rock bottom became the solid foundation on which I rebuilt my life. — J.K.Rowling
The old familiar saying “when one door closes, another door opens” is very true when it comes to divorce. However, in the midst of divorce turbulence, it is common to see our future only through the lens of our fear, anxiety and negativity. Accept that these are common and normal responses to divorce and then resolve yourself to move beyond them. As Dr. Laura Schlessinger says, ““Don’t spend too much time beating on a wall, hoping it will transform into a door.”
If your focus is on the past or the present turmoil, you will miss seeing the doors that are opening for you. If your thoughts are mostly occupied with what your ex did or didn’t do in your relationship, you deprive yourself of the opportunity to stronger, wiser and happier. As Chris Martin said when he was getting divorced, “You can come at it very aggressively and blame and blame and blame. Or you can put yourself in the garage, so to speak. Take yourself apart and clean off the bits. Reassemble.”
Supported by our non-profit, Alpha Community Education Foundation, ARC was established by professionals who have struggled through divorce themselves and are now dedicated to helping others.
Our programs and resources are built with one goal in mind: to make sure that you and your children not only survive but also thrive after your divorce. We know you are a unique individual so we begin with a private conversation with you to determine which direction is best for you.
Your first step is to call or email our Executive Directory, Amy Siock, LSW. She will learn about you and your needs; help you choose the best direction and connect you with resources tailored to your specific needs. Phone: 1-800-310-9085 or Email asiock@alpharesourcenter.org
