It’s All in the Attitude!

Divorce and General Articles

It’s all in the attitude, my grandmother used to tell me when I was younger.  I am now old enough to understand what she was saying to me.

Your attitude dictates a lot of what you open yourself up to, the choices you make and the subsequent outcomes.  Attitude is crucial during this time of your life now that you are starting over either on your own or with someone else.  It not only helps define who you are becoming, but also where you want to go and how you’re going to get there.

A few weeks ago I was asked if I had any interest in going to a Bluegrass festival in Kentucky.  My first reaction was, “What’s bluegrass”?  Followed by an entourage of dubious hesitancies such as where would I stay? How much will it cost?  Will I like bluegrass?  I don’t know anyone! And the list goes on.

Taking a deep breath and remembering my grandmother, my second reaction was, “when do we go”?  Sometimes you just have to think out of the box and just go for it.  Life is an experience not a destination and if you only do what you’ve only done then you’re not really experiencing anymore, are you?  You are repeating the same thing over and over again and expecting something different?  The attitude adjustment comes into play when you open yourself up to new opportunities and open your world to new experiences.

The same can be said about your finances.  If you are doing the same things over and over again and somehow come out with too much month at the end of your money, then perhaps it’s time for an attitude adjustment.

Think out of the box and pay yourself first.  Realign your priorities and put more emphasis on a whole life time of experiences.  A good financial plan will allow you to do just that.  Sit down with a financial advisor and open yourself up to new experiences of a financial plan that will allow growing and enjoying today and long into your future!
